many members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara state on Thursday migrated to the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Those that decamped are mostly from Kwara north senatorial district.

The discontented former APC members lately signified their dereliction plan, remarking that APC has been entrapped in a crisis of erosion shortly after the hypothesis of office of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.

Those that were physically attending at the event were diplomats picked across the five local government areas in the Kwara north, in abidance to COVID-19 safety procedures, the leader of the group, Hon. Mazuma Kawu Dogo said. He contended that they are about 10,000 in number across the 58 wards in the district “.

Dogo said that they agreed on to leave the verdict APC because of confrontation and crisis among party leaders and units, allegedly effected by non-adherence to the party’s code.

Pinpointing that political problem was keen among the APC members, Dogo added that the improvement did not allow growth but decline.

He said party members were de-enfranchised, depressed and no longer had a sense of belonging due to disappointing campaign promises.
Along the line, the centre cannot hold and things fall apart as a result of the grievance, lack of fairness, recognition and sense of relating to the party members,” he added.

He said the next local government elections would mark incremental extinction of the ruling APC from the state as they are ready to make such that PDP comes back to power in the state.

“After lasting for a year, we learned that the truth has occurred, necessitating our activity as against jeopardizing our belief. It is a tall time for us to maintain our clear noble principle towards giving rise to positive modifications and development to our people. As you can see there is nothing in the PDP to share now to anyone, therefore our decamping from APC to PDP is based on confidence,” Dogo clarified.

Receiving the decampees, the chairman of PDP in the state, Engr Kola Shittu, described the advancement as phenomenal, assuring the new partners that they will enjoy the same freedoms the existing party members enjoy without intolerance.

“We’re not shocked with the improvement due to disappointing promises of the present government in the state. Doors of our party are wide open just as our umbrella is big sufficiently to house every citizen of the state”, he said, adding that the PDP is deduced to better their fate.

Substantiating the decampees claims of likely non-performance by the APC- led government in the state, Shittu said” if our party had won the last gubernatorial election in the state, by now workers in the state would have started proclaiming the N30,000 new minimum wage in fulfilment of our agreement with the organised labour in the state. ”

“We should take our future in our pointers. I’ve directed party leaders across the state to open the new register and issue memberships cads to new partners so that enrollment at ward statuses is done to ensure that nobody is left behind.”
