Businessman in court over alleged N1.4 million fraud

A businessman, Tunde Ajetunmobi, 36, on Friday appeared in an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos for allegedly defrauding a housewife of N1.4 million.

The police charged Ajetunmobi with obtaining by false pretence and theft.

He pleaded not guilty.

The Prosecution Counsel, ASP Benson Emuerhi, told the court that the defendant committed the offence between April and July in Agege, Lagos State.

Emuerhi alleged that Ajetunmobi obtained N1.4 million from Mrs Abiodun Akano on false pretence of securing a contract for her.

He submitted that all efforts to recover the money from the defendant failed.

The offence, he said, contravened the provisions of sections 287 and 314 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

Chief Magistrate J.A. Adegun admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N200, 000 with two sureties in like sum.

Adegun adjourned the case until Aug. 24 for mention.
