Bolaji Salami, Commissioner of Police, Ondo State, on Wednesday said the command had deployed 5,000 cops to provide security in all the 18 local government areas of the state on Saturday during the local council election.
He said the Command was prepared for the conduct of the election, adding that other security agencies including the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) and the Department of State Services (DSS) would collectively provide security during the exercise.
Warning political thugs to eschew violence before, during and after the polls, Salami charged all participants in the election to adhere to the rules of the game.
The commissioner revealed that the Police had concluded arrangement to deploy more men to the state because of the October 10, 2020 governorship election.
According to him the men would be drawn from Edo, Osun, Ogun and Ekiti states for peaceful conduct of the gubernatorial election.
